Coop Companion

About Coop Companion

The breeder's coop book — from breeding pen to show cage to sale.

Why Coop Companion exists

Backyard chicken keeping has boomed, and a lot of keepers are quietly becoming breeders — a second pen, an incubator, a first show, a batch of hatching eggs to sell. The tools didn't keep up. The breeding apps that do exist paywall the basics, the printable record packs are paid PDFs, and everything past hatching — show records, NPIP paperwork, egg-color programs — is served by nobody.

That whole arc — from breeding pen to show cage to sale — is what Coop Companion is built for.

Free where it counts

The reminder that tells you to lock down on day 18 is the difference between a hatch and a heartbreak. We don't think that belongs behind a subscription, so the hatch tracker — full day-7/14/18 reminders, one active hatch, a flock roster, and 4-H export — is free forever.

We earn our keep when you grow into a breeder with multiple pens, pedigrees to track, egg-color programs to plan, shows to enter, and eggs to sell. That's what the paid plans are for, and we state exactly what they include.

How we handle facts

Incubation figures come from university extension publications and manufacturer manuals, given as ranges rather than false precision, and dated with a 'Verified' month. Breed information is written in our own words and cited to breed clubs — we never reproduce copyrighted standard text. NPIP and state pages link official sources, and where a state's rules are unclear we say so rather than guess.
